Harriet’s Notebook 22.02.2016

Hello Friends,

I hope you all had a super weekend!

I have a busy week ahead of me, with a few days in the studio with Steve and Mr Terry Ronald. We will be working on some new material and it will be the first time the three of us have worked together, so can’t wait to see what we come up with! 🙂

I’ve been to a beautiful venue in London called the Union Chapel, twice in the past month to see some superb live music from two emerging artists. It is such a unique place; somewhere I would love to perform at. Firstly, a gorgeous girl called, ‘Aurora’ and last Thursday, ‘Frances’ (pictured below). Both totally blew me away, for different reasons – Aurora is from another world – like a magical singing fairy, who’s songs are like poetry – her lyrics are so inspired and she is such a striking performer.

Frances is very different – I have huge admiration for artists who accompany themselves on a piano for a whole show, with nothing but a cello added for a couple of songs, to add a little sparkle. I am not someone to cry easily… I am quite guarded when it comes to emotions, so when I felt my eyes melt during her performance of ‘Say It Again’ (co-written with Greg Kurstin – Adele ‘Hello’), I was quite astounded, not to mention a bit embarrassed! :-/ That was it then – I was full of tears for the rest of her set. She is someone I highly recommend you check out, if you haven’t already – She really is something special. 2016 is certainly a year for female artists, which is a really exciting thing! 😀

I am performing a little acoustic set with my friend and guitarist, Rikki at The Half Moon in Putney, SW London on Monday 14th March (click here). I’d love to see you there if you fancy coming down. There’s an eclectic mix of artists performing and it should be a good night! I’ll keep you all posted with more gigs coming soon!

Love Harriet X

  1. Thanks for the artiste recommendations Harriet…
Union Chapel looks and sounds great…just a bit too far to get to from Liverpool
Eagerly awaiting news of your next solo show and venue…
Till then will have to settle for your mesmerising voice on Soundcloud and Spotify.
    Dx

  2. Hi Harriet, the Union Chapel is truly a unique venue, I have many memories from my youth of it, my parents were married there in the 1950’s, my Aunt and Uncle were married there in the 1960’s and I used to go to services there with my grandparents in the ’60’s and ’70’s. From what I remember, the acoustics were pretty good. I’d love to see you singing there, I’m sure your voice would be incredible in there, I would love to go back there for the memories (must be over 45 years since I was last there)now going to check out the singers you saw
